Repairs to a Torn Blazer

Needed a Dress Altered Quickly

Ready-Made Curtains / Blind Alteration
I bought 2 pairs of ready made curtains from Laura Ashley; my husband found Gill’s website. I gave the curtains to Gill to make into one pair and to the size I wanted, as this turned out to be the cheaper option. She did a fabulous job and I would not hesitate to use her again and recommend her to my friends.

A Few Days Before Christmas

Repairing Holes
Thank you so much for the trousers you repaired for my daughter. Instead of just a boring patch for my 16 year old you made a fantastic suggestion to make a feature patch which my daughter loves, and now has a pair of trousers that are completely unique. Fantastic, fast, efficient service.

I have used Gill Hudnott’s service for innumerable sewing difficulties, especially with a teenager who appears to have holes in all her best clothes! Her service is fast, efficient and inexpensive. Trouser Repairs and Alterations
Gill altered some of my favourite trousers after I slimmed out of them. She turned the job around really quickly and the quality of the alteration was excellent. They look better now than they ever did, like a new pair for a fraction of the cost.

Altered All My Wardrobe
Gill altered all my wardrobe recently (suits, trousers and dresses) and did an excellent job for a reasonable price. Gill’s work is excellent and I would highly recommend her for all sewing chores!
Trousers Now Fit Me Better
After losing quite a lot of weight (took up running!) I found none of my work clothes fitted me anymore. I was a bit daunted by the effort and cost of replacing the whole lot! Gill was great, she sorted out my trousers and shirts so saved me a fortune. The trousers now fit me better now than when I bought them!
Last Minute Repair
Needed a work suit for a court hearing but I found a tear in the trousers. Not only did Gill do an incredibly speedy repair, but a professional repair that could not be seen even though it was in an area that would have been visible. Thank you Gill, money well spent and amazingly reasonable.

Trouser Alterations & Repairs
Gill came to my home to fit & alter one pair of trousers and ended up taking away three pairs: one in desperate need of a repair & alteration, one (long forgotten, yet loved) pair with a missing hem, and the “new” pair. When she returned with all 3 looking spectacular, each in its own right (even the old loved ones!), I could not have been happier. Gill is clearly a seamstress with keen knowledge, fine attention to detail and the professionalism to do a job right. Bridesmaid Dress
I thoroughly recommend Make & Mend, which I found doing a google search of the area when I desperately needed a badly altered bridesmaid’s dress corrected (a few days before the wedding!). I frantically called Gill who, despite being busy, fitted me in and altered the dress beautifully. She turned the dress from a badly fitting sack into a gorgeous fitted gown in 2 days. The wedding was wonderful and even the other bridesmaids commented on how much better my dress fitted! And even more amazing was that Gill charged me half the price the bridal store charged. I would not think twice about taking any garments to Make & Mend. Quick, professional, value for money and all with a homely feel.
Beautiful Bridesmaid Dress
Having found some beautiful material in Hong Kong, Gill made an equally beautiful bridesmaid dress for me to wear at my best friend’s wedding. I didn’t give Gill a lot of time or ideas of what it was I wanted, but the end result was perfect and has since been worn several times as an evening dress. I would recommend using Gill Hudnott for all dressmaking needs, from basic alterations to complex adaptations and producing a thoroughly well made garment.
Needlecraft Skills
I have often used Gill’s needlecraft skills for a variety of needs: dressmaking, curtains, tablecloths and excellent fancy outfits. Very talented, patient and good value for money.
Matching Table Runner
Having used Make & Mend services in the past and been very pleased with the results, I had no hesitation in contacting Gill when I needed to update my dining room. She advised me on material and style and made some lovely curtains with a matching table runner.

Four Sets of Curtains
Gill made us four sets of curtains for our new home, and they are all fabulous! Gill came and measured up and advised me on the best type of fabric and lining, she supplied all the fixing bits and came and hung them when finished. Gill made it a really enjoyable process and we are delighted with our curtains and have had many compliments.
Torn Seam & Zip Replacement
Gill replaced the concealed zip on a skirt and repaired a torn seam in my daughter’s dress. Both repairs were of excellent quality, you could not see the repairs. Both items are now as good as new! Quick, first class work, would recommend to anyone.
